Celebrating 12 Years of Running In San Francisco!

Choose from a 5k, 10k or the Sirena10 Mile

10 Mile: Cross the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE with the Sirena10 Mile course! Guaranteed to get the best of the BEST views of San Francisco. After crossing the bridge on the Pacific side you'll return on the bay side for stunning views of the San Francisco skyline.

10K: The 10K course goes up and into the Presidio for where you'll soak in views of the bay and the Pacific Ocean. Run underneath the Golden Gate Bridge and pass by the historic Fort Point before heading to the finish.

5K: Flat, yes totally flat... the 5K is great for joggers, walkers and runners looking for the picturesque views without the hills.

Virtual: We also offer a virtual run for anyone who can't attend in person.

Mermaids ALWAYS receive a stylish race shirt, finisher necklace, and medal.

The Mermaid Dash is a great way to introduce girls to the world of running. The fun run/walk allows girls to participate and experience the joy of crossing the finish line in a safe and supportive environment. Mermaid Dashers receive a medal, finisher necklace and post race food. Note: The dash entry fee does not come with a race shirt. We do sell youth shirts at the Mermaid Series Apparel Booth. The entry fee is $15.00 in advance or $20 on race day.

Parents are encouraged to let Mermaid Dashers run on their own, however a parent or guardian is welcome to run alongside young or shy Mermaid Dashers.

Parking in San Francisco is always a challenge. We recommend you arrive a minimum of 60 minutes prior to your race start to allow for extra time to park. There is NO PARKING at the East Beach Parking Lot where the finish line is located. There are several pay parking lots in the Presidio. There are two free lots located at the Marina Green and the Little Marina Green. All lots are within a mile or two miles of the start line. NOTE: Since the Free Lots will fill up fast, we recommend using the pay parking lots in the Presidio

Pay ($) Parking - Presidio:

There are several parking lots within the Presidio that are less than a 1 mile walk to the East Beach Parking Lot. To enter the Presidio, enter from the west on either Marina Blvd, Lombard St or Gorgas Ave. If you are coming from Marina Blvd it will turn into Girard Rd and you'll find the Lundeen (200 spaces) Parking Lot on your right. If you stay on Girard Rd and go underneath the Golden Gate Bridge approach (DO NOT turn onto the Golden Gate Bridge Approach) you will enter the Presidio and there are a handful of lots to choose from. The largest lot is the Main Post parking lot. You can also enter the Presidio via the Lombard Gate or on Gorgas Ave. Parking is $1.80 per hour or $7 to $8.50 for all day. Pay kiosks accept credit cards.

Free Parking - Marina Green & the Little Marina Green
Marina Green - Google Map: The Marina Green has approximately 450 spots. It is close to a 1 mile walk to the East Beach Parking Lot.
Little Marina Green - Google Map: There are approximately 130 spots. It is roughly a .15 mile walk to the East Beach Parking Lot.

Packet Pickup - Registration

What do I need to bring to packet pick-up/registration?
Bring your PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (ID) or a copy of your ID in order to receive your packet. A valid driver’s license or a valid passport is best. Minors are not required to show a photo ID.

Can I pick up my friend’s packet for them?
Yes! Bring a copy of their photo ID and we’ll give you their packet. Either a paper copy or digital image on a smartphone works.

Are we required to pick up our packets before race day?
No, but we strongly recommend that you do. This allows you to relax instead of waiting in a packet pickup line on race day morning.

What time should we be there on race day?
Check-in opens at 6:00 a.m. We recommend that you arrive to the venue at least 60 minutes before your start time. If you didn’t pick up your packet before race day, you may want to give yourself even more time.

When should I register for the event?
The earlier, the better. Race entry prices increase, as the event date gets closer.

If the event closes, will there be a waiting list?

If I cannot race, can I give someone else my race number?

No. Race entries are non-transferable.

How do I know if I’m registered?

You should have received an email confirmation from the registration software. If you can’t find it, you can email us at We will verify your participation from our registration list.

Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, there are no refunds. However, we do have an awesome cancelation policy. Email us at at least 10 days prior to the event and we’ll give you a credit toward a future race. The credit amount is your entry fee minus a $10 processing fee.

Run Course

How many miles is 5K? 10K? and what is the Sirena10?
The 5K is 3.1 miles and the 10K is 6.2 miles. The Sirena10 (Sirena is Spanish for Mermaid) is our 10 mile distance.

Is the Mermaid Run hilly?

It depends on the distance you are running. The 5k is on a very flat course. The new 10k course is hilly, but the view of the Bay is spectacular. The Sirena10 mile course is hilly, but the view from the Golden Gate Bridge is even more spectacular and totally worth it.

Is there is a time limit?

It depends on the distance you are running. The 5k and 10k distances do not have a time limit. The Sirena10 does have a time limit. Sirena10 mile participants must keep a 21 minute per mile pace or faster to complete the course in the allotted time.

Do you have aid stations?

What kind of liquid/food is on the racecourse?

Yes, we have plenty of aid stations. Water, Ultima Replenisher electrolyte drink, and LUNA bars are available at aid stations along the course.  Due to strict park rules, we are NOT allowed to serve Gel on the course.  You are welcome to carry your own gel, but PLEASE only dispose of the gel wrapper at an Aid Station.  Help keep our parks clean and happy!

Can I run with a baby stroller?

It depends on the distance you are running. You can run with a baby stroller on the 5k or 10k course. However, please start towards the back of the pack at the start line. Strollers are NOT allowed on the Sirena10 mile course due to the steep hills and restrictions on the Golden Gate Bridge.

I belong to a club or organization. Do you offer group discounts?
Yes! Have your club president or representative email us at to get the discount code.

How many people do I need in my group to be eligible for a group discount code?
6 or more.

Mini Mermaid 1.5 mile Dash

Can I run with my daughter in the Mermaid Dash?
Yes! Although we encourage parents to let their daughters experience the run for themselves, the younger girls are often accompanied by a parent. Parents do not need to register for the dash.

Do you have awards?
Yes! We will have an awards ceremony at the expo. Awards are given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall winners for each distance and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each age group. You MUST be present at the awards ceremony to pick up your award.  Awards will NOT be mailed out.

What are the Age Groups?

Mermaid Age Groups are currently 10 and under, 11-14 15-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, etc. Age groups from age 20 and over are separated by 5 year increments.

Do I have to wear my race bib?

Yes, you are required to run with your bib number. This is used for timing, identification, and race photos.

I heard this event uses Chip Timing. What is Chip Timing?
Chip timing allows us to record your time using a computer and gives the most accurate results. Your timing chip is attached to your bib.
