Heidi Boynton, personal fitness instructor and life coach (CPT, CLFC), and USAT Level 1 certified triathlon coach has inspired women of all walks of life in achieving their personal fitness goals.
A cancer diagnosis in 2001 and an additional diagnosis in 2008 has been the stimulus for Heidi to compete in endurance events as a way to enjoy life to the fullest while keeping her cancer in perspective.
She has competed in over 25 triathlons, multiple marathons and ultimately completed Ironman distance triathlons.
Through her unique personal experience she has helped women work through fitness and emotional blocks in training for races as well as for life. Heidi loves to help women reach their fullest potential by helping them to stay focused on their own individual abilities "Triathlon is a wonderful sport because it allows each person to realize their own goals given where they are at physically and mentally, in the end it doesn't matter how fast you are but how much you enjoyed the process getting there".
She is looking forward to combining her triathlon expertise with her unique talent for helping women reach their goals as head coach of TeamMermaid. Heidi is married and has two boys and lives in Santa Cruz, CA.
Coach Kelli Poindexter
Kelli Poindexter has been a cycling enthusiast for over a decade and has vast experience organizing and leading rides. Throughout her career in the cycling industry, she has been passionate about advocating for women’s cycling. Kelli co-founded Women On Wheels in 2005, a program educating women about all things cycling. When she joined Giant Bicycle’s women's program, Giant For Women, six years ago she had an opportunity to work with bike dealers to create women specific cycling events and rides. Three years ago Kelli caught the Triathlon bug and trained hard to become an age-group top ten finisher. As her commitment to health and fitness flourished, Kelli became a certified Spinning Instructor and then a USA Cycling Coach.

testimonials
" I was nervous about joining the team, figuring that most of the women would be gung-ho athletes, but I felt I had nothing to loose by going to the orientation meeting. I was pleasantly surprised to see a group of women with a wide range of fitness levels. I thought to myself, Hmm, maybe this might work after all.but then the doubts quickly returned as I thought about all my physical limitations. Coach Heidi introduced herself, her coaching philosophy and the mission of Team Mermaid. She talked about empowering women to be the best they could be both on an off the track. Once again there was a glimmer of hope that maybe this would work out."
